A little lesson from my mother about dating. For whatever reason, this conversation that I had with her when I was maybe 15 came to my mind and heart today. Back then, I wasn’t fully understanding. Today, I understand it to be a conversation about knowing what you deserve and also making sure you give the same to others.

It’s a conversation about asking for the entire thing as well as being capable of giving as much. A conversation about leadership and balance in a relationship. A conversation about vision and sight and being around people that have the ability to see more when you can’t and when you see more when they don’t, they are the type of person who can follow your lead.

It was a conversation about mind expansion. And not dating potential, but being realistic about the version of the person presented to you, as well as the version of you that you present to them and the world.

At the time, it was a little over my head.

Today, I get it.
