I was brought up to believe in the importance of confessing my sins in order for my relationship with God to remain healthy. But is that was this verse is teaching? Did John have in mind Christians' habitual sins in mind when writing down this verse?I've now come to the conclusion that he didn't have Christians in mind even though countless others believe he's writing specifically to Christians in this letter. I aim to show logic that 1 John 1:9 is an evangelistic verse calling sinners to acknowledge their sin before a holy God.
