Amarneedhi Nayanar was a successful businessman and a clothing merchant by profession in the Chola kingdom. He was also an ardent devotee of Lord Shiva. He generously used his wealth to serve the devotees of Lord Shiva by building an ashram and offering devotees a place to rest, offering food, refreshments and clothing.
