After reading an article about a fellow Clevelander's mother who understood the assignment of being her children's first teacher, it definitely renewed my faith and reminded me to keep doing what I'm doing. I was in such awe after reading an article that a lady posted in LinkedIn that was written about her mother 34 years ago, highlighting how she is adamant about preparing her children to be successful. She was not putting that job in the hands of teachers or anyone else. In fact the article's focus was on the brochure titled the Home Team Learning Activities that was put together by the American Federation of Teachers back in the 80's. This brochure gave tips for parents on different activities they could do with their child/children at home so they would begin to reinforce what they were being taught at school. Of course I give my reasons in this podcast on how this was so wonderful and needed for our children then and now on so many levels. Please be sure to grab your notebook and pen so that you can be prepared to write down the gems I'll be droppin!
