A big thank you to Jack Michaels for setting up this interview with Ben Weingarten. Ben has a wonderful collection of sports memorabilia and sports photographs.
It all started with baseball cards, but with Ben it has certainly branch out.
We hear about his collection, some tips to keep in mind, and we even took phone calls.
Ben will definitely be back.
Here are some of the items he brought into studio:
Top of photo is his bat used by Hank Aaron, which he will soon be getting autographed in Wisconsin.
Bottom left is photo from exactly 45 years ago. Hank Aaron hit #715 on April 8th 1974. Hank is starting his home run trot, while pitcher Al Downing stands on the mound.
Bottom right is a photo of Babe Ruth from 1921 taken by legendary photographer Charles Conlon. The Babe autographed this photo to Eddie Collins and has a Conlon watermark on the back of the photo.
Notice personalized note to Eddie Collins!
