Amber was young and bright, had a good family and had a great future ahead of her – all of those factors lead to someone who “shouldn’t” become a drug addict, but she did. Amber discusses how she initially began using heroin, how it quickly took over her life, how she came close to spending her life in jail for a federal drug charge, and how she later took herself off heroin cold turkey. Amber is in the 1% of addicts that are able to quit without the use of drugs and has now been clean for 7 years. She works for a drug awareness advocacy group and hopes that her story will impact anyone who listens who may have misconceptions about drug addiction.
