At its heart, it’s about what it means to be a father, and whether or not a father can care for a child he’s never met. In “The Last Rite,” Daniel gets a phone call telling him that not only has his former girlfriend, who disappeared without a trace, has died but has left behind a daughter she had with him. What Daniel doesn’t know as he takes custody of his estranged daughter is that they are both pawns in a supernatural war, and soon preventing the apocalypse relies on how far Daniel will go to protect a daughter he’s never known. We talk to him about this book and his passion for writing.
