This connects to American operations in Venezuela a few days ago; and it connects to the ever-so-slightly surprising American focus on Greenland. I know some of my American friends view the hemispheric sphere of influence as a stepping stone to a future in which the US and China are two superpowers. It will be interesting to see whether you can get there from here.
