The Pew Research Center of the United States recently released an online poll. The results showed that nearly 90% of Americans believe that China is a "competitor or enemy" of the United States. This proportion greatly exceeds that of China as a "cooperative partner" of the United States. 

In addition, as many as 48% of the respondents believe that limiting China's power and influence is the "most important."
