On this week’s episode of The Art of Music Tech, Fela is interviewing American jazz soprano, tenor and alto saxophonist Marcus Strickland. Today’s episode is taking place in Tokyo, Japan while Fela is on tour with Christian McBride’s New Jawn, where Marcus is featured in the reed section. Marcus is signed with the iconic Blue Notes Records and discusses his seven studio recorded albums. Fela talks to the Florida native about how his father’s musical background inspired him to take on the music industry. Marcus’s father was a former drum major and D.J., so growing up with a talented musician influenced him to pursue his career. Marcus also shares his interest in both jazz and hip hop, his additional passion for the bass clarinet, his transition from Florida to New York City, and his experience living in New York City for the past 2 decades.
