Inhibits synthesis of bacterial cell wall leading to cell death.

Nursing Considerations

Contraindicated with penicillin allergy

may cause seizures

assess for rash, anaphylaxis

excreted by kidneys - monitor renal labs

monitor patient for diarrhea - bloody stool should be reported immediately
