Guest Introduction:
Dr. Kishor Wasan's work in pharmaceutical sciences has been recognized with over 25 awards, and he's published more than 550 research papers, focusing on how drugs are delivered in the body. As the former associate dean of Research at the University of British Columbia in Vancouver, Canada and the co-founder of the Neglected Global Disease Initiative at the same university, Dr. Kishor Wasan has dedicated a large part of his life to finding solutions for diseases that often get overlooked. In particular, he's developing an oral, less toxic form of a drug called Amphotericin B, which is currently in clinical trials to treat Leishmaniasis, a neglected tropical disease that devastates many impoverished areas of the world. Let's jump into the episode and hear the story by Dr. Wasan himself.
