JR123 was released from prison in 1982 and yet his conviction still affects his employment opportunities and his mental health. In this case the Supreme Court was asked to review whether the rehabilitation regime in Northern Ireland is compatible with the European Convention on Human Rights, and we discuss what the aim of the law should be in this area.
