While many of these measures may be necessary to combat the spread of this deadly and still highly misunderstood virus, it seems that the pandemic may be allowing democracies with authoritarian tendencies to finally consolidate power. Drew and Alex discuss how this issue begins with misinformation and can lead to the erosion of democratic norms. The sad outcome of this pandemic may be that there may be a global rise in authoritarianism. The dust hasn’t settled yet, but when it does - we may see many dynamic changes to countries that we once assumed were pure democracies.
