For years the city of Cleveland was known for their terrible sports teams, a steel industry that went belly up, and having a river that was so polluted it caught fire. But in 1986 it was finally Cleveland's time to shine! City leaders concocted an event so grand that the Mistake on the Lake would no longer be the laughingstock of the country. It would be called Balloonfest '86 and would see the release of 1.5 million balloons over the city to raise money for charity. Balloons are fun and colorful, what could possibly go wrong?
