The heist movie genre has a lot to offer, with stories ranging from intricate robberies to small-time crimes. A strong ensemble with chemistry that shines through the screen and a well-balanced mix of humor and suspense are always the highlights. With those essential components, The Instigators serves as the younger sibling of Damon's Ocean's 11 series. The Instigators is a group of schizoid henchmen who couldn't steal a lollipop from a baby without something going wrong, as opposed to a composed group of expert con artists hatching a complex plot. And that's just one of the many reasons to appreciate Doug Liman's most recent film. The film opens with Rory, a despondent former Marine, narrating the story—there's not a beautifully dressed leading guy in sight.
