As Christians, there will be times when God calls us to be impractical. Through the story of Ezra's journey we learn how he chooses to rely on earnest prayer and fasting for God's protection rather than an armed escort. Without this type of faith, we cannot be radically generous nor ever be able to fully share the gospel. Through fasting, we can practice challenging ourselves to doing impractical things and thereby strengthen our relationship with the Good Lord.
