An exhilarating trip
Judith Campbell's writing style is easygoing and compelling, her characters engaging and, most of all, the situations they find themselves in are both harrowing and morally challenging.
This novel is the most fully developed of the series, and also the most ambiguous. The ending will leave you wondering for a long time about the limits of human compassion and self-awareness.
If you like your mysteries with deep characters probing deep questions, you should enjoy this novel.

I have enjoyed all of the Olympia Brown mysteries, and this was no exception. The character development was wonderful, I have begun to think of Olympia and her family as old friends. Olympia shines on Frederick's home turf, and it is nice to see her out of her element.
If you have never read one of Judith Campbell's books, start and the beginning and enjoy the ride.
Great story!
Lots of twists and turns -- you can't predict what's next. And Olympia is a great (complex, imperfect) character. As a Unitarian Universalist myself, the incorporation of our values into the situations without preaching is a real plus.
Loved this book
Loved this book! This took us to England for a mystery. It unfolded in a way that was unexpected. Judith Campbell captured the English atmosphere from quaint roads to quaint deserts! I like how Olympia Brown takes on her mysteries with such conviction. If you like mysteries, this is the series to read!
