The Lord is slow to anger, and abounding in steadfast love. The Psalmist reflects upon this glorious reality that has been shown from God to His people, time and again. Upon the occasion of that first sin God could have simply sentenced the man and his wife to death, but instead He made them a promise, through the Seed which He prophesied to redeem them from their sins. All forgiveness, all sin-covered, all covenant renewal is laid upon the back of the Redeemer, this is why God can and does forgive His beloved children so much, because we are hidden in covenant union with Christ, the Messiah.
