Hello, and welcome to another episode of Some Random Thoughts. I am your host, Ryan Mulkowsky. This season, we focus on our guests in the “What’s Your Passion” series. We continue this season with Emily Herrick: an outspoken advocate for seeking alternative methods to treating mental and physical illness through better understanding of how diet and other indicators can impact our health outcomes.
In this episode, we discuss Emily’s background as someone who struggled with a host of mental health disorders through childhood all the way to adulthood and utilized conventional interventions such as therapy and medication management to little avail: leading her to worsening mental health outcomes which led to multiple hospitalizations and rehabilitations. Emily continued to struggle until she started seeking alternative health interventions found in integrative and functional medicine. She soon discovered that her diet needed vast adjustment which led to significant breakthrough and new found freedom from mental and physical health struggles. She discusses the complications and victories along the way and also advocates for greater access to alternative medicine and better treatment in our healthcare system overall.
