Board members Ted Reed and Joan Countryman are joined by resident Mary Ellen McNish for a discussion of Friends in the City (http://www.friendscentercity.org/) (FitC) an urban aging experiment. The nucleus is Friends Center City Riverfront, a 10-unit “experimental/do-it-yourself” retirement community within a condominium building of 40 units near Penn's Landing in center city Philadelphia. The health care needs of Riverfront residents are coordinated by Friends Lifecare Inc. Members have dinner together twice a week and enjoy pilates and yoga in their Common Area rooms. And FitC residents appreciate living within a multi-generational and diverse community.
