We are called to love YHWH with all our heart, soul, and might—not through legalistic willpower or abstract theory, but through the daily, liturgical habits of grace that form our loves from the inside out. Yet, unearned prosperity and comfortable blessings present an insidious danger: spiritual amnesia. How do we cultivate an enduring love for God that survives both famine and feast? In week four of our Choose Life series through Deuteronomy, Pastor Arnaldo unpacks Deuteronomy 5:1–33 to explore the vehicle of God’s redemptive love: covenant.The Ten Commandments were never given to earn salvation, but to display it. Spoken to a people already redeemed from Egyptian slavery, God’s ten creative words form Israel into a new creation—ordering their vertical love for God and horizontal faithfulness to one another.Yet external law on stone cannot fix a broken human heart. Pointing back to Genesis 15, where God alone walked through the severed pieces to absorb the covenant curse, Christ fulfilled the Law on the cross.
