When Mary of Bethany broke open her alabaster jar of costly ointment and poured it on Jesus, some saw waste. Jesus saw worship. Her extravagant gift—worth nearly a year’s wages—pointed both to His coming burial and to His immeasurable worth.

This passage invites us to consider our own posture toward God. Do we bring Him our leftovers, or our best? In a world marked by entitlement and self-interest, the call of discipleship is to offer our time, resources, and devotion as a reflection of God’s surpassing value. Every act of service—whether in the workplace, at home, or in ministry—is an opportunity to say with our lives: “Lord, You are worthy of my best.”
