Anchored At Home episodes

  • 2. What are you really anchored to?
In this episode of Anchored at Home, Josh and Liz share the deeply personal story behind the podcast name and explore what it means to build a strong marriage, healthy family, grounded identity, and enduring faith that can withstand life's storms.

After watching an anchor struggle to take hold during a trip, Josh and Liz realized how closely that image reflected their own lives. You can appear to be in the right place while quietly drifting beneath the surface. And that drift can happen in your faith, marriage, parenting, emotional health, relationships, and identity.

Josh and Liz share their own experiences with perfectionism, people pleasing, performance-driven identity, codependency, unresolved trauma, addiction and numbing behaviors, church hurt, emotional disconnection, and baggage brought into marriage. They also discuss how their relationships with Jesus transformed the way they understood identity, healing, vulnerability, marriage, parenting, and generational impact.

This honest Christian marriage conversation explores why couples shouldn't wait for a crisis to strengthen their relationship. The healthiest foundations are built before the storm comes through trust, communication, vulnerability, emotional safety, faith, accountability, and a willingness to address your own wounds.

Josh and Liz also challenge listeners to consider an important question: What am I carrying that I haven't looked at yet? Because the things we refuse to name can quietly shape our marriages, parenting, relationships, and homes.

If you're looking for conversations about Christian marriage, biblical relationships, faith and family, emotional healing, overcoming past trauma, marriage communication, Christian parenting, breaking generational cycles, finding your identity in Christ, or building a stronger home, this episode is for you.

Subscribe to Anchored at Home for real, vulnerable conversations about faith, marriage, parenting, healing, relationships, and creating generational impact one home at a time.

  • 1. You’re Not Alone: Why We’re Finally Having the Conversations That Matter
What if the conversations we’re most afraid to have are the very ones that remind us we’re not alone?

In the debut episode of Anchored at Home, Josh and Liz Nolz pull up a chair and invite you into the heart behind this podcast—and into a much bigger conversation about marriage, family, faith, vulnerability, and the people we need along the way.

They share how they met, the moves and unexpected turns that shaped their family, the “I got you” moments that strengthened their faith, and why saying yes to this podcast required stepping far outside their comfort zones.

But more than anything, they share why Anchored at Home exists.

After years of experiencing the power of honest conversations around kitchen tables, fire pits, in therapy, in community, and within their own marriage, Liz and Josh have learned something simple but life-changing: we were never meant to do this alone.

Behind every highlight reel is a real story. Marriage is hard. Parenting is hard. Growth is hard. And sometimes hearing someone else say, “Me too,” is exactly what we need to finally exhale.

This is a space for those conversations—the vulnerable, messy, funny, faith-filled, honest ones that help us feel seen, find connection, and become more anchored in who we are and how we show up at home.

Pull up a chair. There’s room for you here.

    In this episode:
    • Why Liz and Josh finally said yes to starting a podcast
    • Their story, family, and the moves that shaped them
