"And blessed is she who believed"

Listen Later

This is a sermon offered on the Fourth Sunday of Advent, December 19, 2021, at the Church of the Messiah in Heflin, Alabama.

Principal text: Luke 1:39-55

“Some scholars have noted that the Magnificat is the song the church loves to sing but hates to hear. We can handle the challenging words of Mary when it is the Mary of western art—demure and passive. The words get more dangerous when it is Mary, the spirit-filled prophet with her fist in the air.”
