It’s a look back at 1989, a year filled with big money makers in the theaters – and a LOT of franchise connections: from the beginning of the Batman movie series to the fifth Trek film to the third in the Indiana Jones series to Ghostbusters and Back to the Future and James Bond . . . Franchises were nothing new in ’89, but 1989 was an extreme example of the way franchises were taking over the box office.
