First- and second-generation Bruton tyrosine kinase (BTK) inhibitors have transformed the therapeutic landscape of several lymphoid cancers, including chronic lymphocytic leukemia (CLL), and mantle cell lymphoma (MCL). The present and future management of these diseases will increasingly be defined by the integration of BTK inhibitors—along with other novel therapeutics—into management protocols that have previously been characterized by the use of immunochemotherapy-focused options.
