Andrew Brushfield is the Victorian and Western Australian Director of specialised recruitment company Robert Half. As a specialised recruiter in finance, accounting, financial services, technology, IT and office support, Andrew has been with Robert Half for over 12 years. He is charged with running the Melbourne CBD, Mount Waverley and Perth businesses. Robert Half is the world’s first and largest specialised recruitment consultancy and member of the S&P 500. Founded in 1948, the company more than 300 offices worldwide providing temporary, interim and permanent recruitment solutions for accounting and finance, financial services, technology, and administrative professionals. Robert Half Australia has offices in Brisbane, Melbourne, Mount Waverley, Perth and Sydney.

Andrew discusses Robert Half’s CEO Tracker research. This is the second year that the tracker has been developed. Interactive version of the research from specialist Robert Half analyses the background and experience of the current leaders of ASX 200 companies. This year, it shows an increase in the number of new appointments, with 20% turnover in the top role – meaning that 63% of the ASX 200 CEOs have now been in the role for five years or less. The 2018 report also reveals that our CEOs are internationally credentialed, mostly male, have a background in finance, have completed a postgrad degree and are more than likely based in Sydney.

Robert Half have also assessed the ASX 200 trends against the FTSE 100. Topline take outs from report:

ASX 200 CEO turnover hits 20% YoY

There are 17 new companies and 40 new CEOs listed on the ASX 200 compared to 2017.

47% of ASX 200-listed CEOs are based in Sydney and 47% of the 200 have a background in finance.

59% have international work experience and 56% have completed a postgraduate degree.

63% have been in the role for five years or less

Research reveals the background and experience of current ASX 200 CEOs in the annual tracker and highlights the combined level of executive movement and changes to the list of organisations that make the ASX 200 from year to year. While the profile of a CEO has not changed significantly over the past 12 months, there are 17 new companies listed on the ASX 200 and 23 CEO changes from the previous year.
