Andrew Kelleher: Auckland praised as 'dining powerhouse'

Move over Sydney; Auckland is the world's new "dining powerhouse".
That's the verdict from US news outlet Bloomberg, in a gushing piece on the city's innovative, diverse and modern cuisine.
It says Auckland's unique geography has given it a unique advantage over its Australian counterparts.
JMIS director Andrew Kelleher told Mike Hosking it's more high praise for a city that already get lots of positive international press.
"Forget the stunning scenery, forget bungee jumping, forget fishing, forget the stunning coastline; you are coming to blooming culinary hotspot."
Bloomberg wrote that Auckland's narrow volcanic geography gives the region access to a wide range of ingredients.
JMIS director Andrew Kelleher told Mike Hosking the article goes on to list some of the city's best establishments, such as Ponsonby's Orphan's Kitchen and Al Brown's Depot.
