Despite Fonterra's top-level woes, farmers are still getting a decent payout at the gate.
The forecast for the upcoming season is $6.69 per kilo of milk solids, which is almost twice what it was two years ago.
JMI Wealth's Andrew Kelleher told Mike Hosking Fonterra's wider financial results for the year were bad, through and through, but farmers should be alright.
"The loss hasn't flowed through to farmers, the wider rural community should be able to get through this."
