Very disappointing!!
I have loved this author in the past but found this book juvenile and boring. Also, there were countless printing &/or grammatical errors throughout the manuscript.
Love to read "good" novels for relaxation
I have a journalism degree .... Love to read "good" novels for relaxation.... Barbara Taylor Bradford is one of my all-time favorite authors; i.e., Woman of Substance. I cannot imagine how any editor could possibly have allowed for this book to be published. Never before, in having read thousands upon thousands of novels (some Grad B), have I ever seen such horrific typographical, errors, incorrect words...the list goes on.... At a few points, it even made it hard to read. The story line was all right, but the editing was a disgrace.
Not Up to Usual Standards
The storyline in this book is very good and the author does a wonderful job of developing the characters and weaving them seamlessly through the varied locations and settings. However, the writing style doesn't seem as polished as what I have come to expect in a Barbara Taylor Bradford book. My biggest problem was with the editing of the book. The typist (s) must have forgotten to turn on spell check as they transcribed the text. The typos were so bad in several places that I had to stop to figure out what the word was supposed to be. This really ruined a good book.
Editing Greatly Needed!
Story was OK, but not up to Bradford's usual quality of plot and characters. However, the editing of this book was the worst I have ever seen. Quotation marks were used in a haphazard manner, making for difficult reading. Even worse was the use of incorrect words that obviously did not belong to that particular sentence. For example, once the word "man" was used in place of "the," and there were many, many of these errors. Sometimes the correct word could be figured out in the context of the sentence, sometimes not.
The editing took me away from reading more of Bradford's books, and I have enjoyed her writing in the past. This book was a waste of money.
Very Disappointed
I don't know who edited this book but I would fire them. Every page had typo's. Some where so bad I couldn't figure out what was being said. This was also one of Barbara Taylor Bradford's worse books. When I got to the end I felt like "this was it?".
