Angela (Head Coach, UMASS Women's Lacrosse) and Justin (Head Coach, Amherst College Men's Soccer) Serpone Lead with Empower! With 22 combined years coaching at the college level and with a staggering 357 wins between the two of them, the Serpone's know what it takes to lead a successful program both on and off the field. Angela and Justin share stories about their coaching journey, their keys to leading a successful collegiate program, what they look for in recruits, and more!
Leadership Notes and Other Highlights:
"If you're a good person and work hard, there will be opportunities for you."
The importance of relationships, connections, and the courage to embrace the sacrifices associated with the opportunities to chase your dreams.
Regardless of settings, leaders have to keep the expectations bar high and provide what coaching and support each athletes needs to reach that standard.
Leading is not about the leader, it's about creating a culture in which the athletes are "stakeholders" not "renters".
