John is one of the first allies that we have allowed on this show (though he does have an invisible disability), and that's not something we take lightly! We talk about all of our feelings surrounding injustice, how outsiders may feel as if disabled people are always angry, the expectations that people have of him, as the father of a disabled child, and the sensitive topic of toxic codependency.
