Angst in the Vastness of Space and Time

Listen Later

LL talks of her feelings of fear and irrelevance pondering the many peoples before and after her seeing the same topography around her.  Then zooming out into space, there is the observation were are but a blink in the eye of the universe.  I give an account of previous humanity, who lived in a world of myth, as opposed to us moderns, who know of the vast and dangerous forces and of our ignorance of many more than those.  So we live by philosophy to some extent, like Stoicism and Buddhism, which help parse the vast unknown and focus the mind on what it can control, and to train its attention, so that one can deal with the vast knowledge and mystery both, and ultimately live a happy life.

(Sorry about the bad sound on my end.  It’s been corrected in future episodes.)
