Releasing in 2014, the first season of Haikyuu!! tells the story of Hinata Shoyo an undersized volleyball player who has the chance to participate in his first middle school tournament. On the opposite side of the court he faces against the overwhelming talent of Kageyama Tobio. After his team loses Hinata joins the Karasuno High School teams with the hopes of beating Kageyama, his new rival. However when he enters the gym he finds Kageyama already there.
