Previously on Dragon Ball GT, SS4 Goku and Nuova Shenron turned up the heat on their battle and decided to fight at full strength. This week, we’ll be checking in on Vegeta as the Saiyan Prince reflects on his life using a partial clip show. While Vegeta laments Goku leaving him in the dust, Bulma finds a way to help her husband achieve a similar power boost. Goku and Nuova’s battle is soon interrupted by an icy new villain who has no intention of fighting fair. Though Goku emerges victorious, he is left blinded and exhausted as the final Shadow Dragon emerges. His name is Syn Shenron, the One-Star Dragon, and his ability to absorb the power and abilities of the other Shadow Dragons is nothing to sneeze at. Even the arrival of SS4 Vegeta does not improve the Z-Fighter’s odds, as Syn Shenron transforms into the even stronger Omega Shenron. The Fusion Technique is the only option that remains, but let’s hope that Gogeta can take the fight seriously enough to win. Pack your eye-restoring potion and remember where you parked the Blutz Wave Tank for today’s exciting episode of Dragon Ball GT!

An ominous black smoke is issuing from Drawing Board-kun on this episode of Anime Was (Not) A Mistake. Though King Ghidorah has been defeated, we’re not done with evil dragons just yet. Last time on Dragon Ball GT, Goku and his friends, they had just finished gathering the Dragon Balls in order to undo the damage from Super 17’s attack. Instead of Shenron, however, a sinister-looking, chain-smoking dragon emerged: a byproduct of the negative energy that had been building within the Dragon Balls since Goku’s adventures first began. Black Smoke Shenron split himself into seven Shadow Dragons, each one embodying a different element and poised to destroy the world. Reassembling for another adventure, Goku, Trunks, Pan, and Giru first encountered Haze Shenron, the two-star dragon of pollution, terrorizing a small village. Though this Wario-esque dragon may not look like much, our heroes should know by now that appearances can be deceiving. Remember to pack an umbrella, some sunscreen, and your favorite pair of underpants for today’s exciting episode of Anime Was (Not) A Mistake!

The future isn’t looking too bright in 1991’s Godzilla vs. King Ghidorah. With the Anti-Nuclear Energy Bacteria having failed to stop Godzilla, Japan faces certain doom if the kaiju makes landfall again. Suddenly, a group of visitors arrive from the future and offer a solution: they will travel back in time to kill Godzilla before atomic radiation made him the monster he is today. But can history actually be rewritten? Or was Godzilla always destined to return in 1984? And while the Futurians claim to be on a mission to save Japan from the King of the Monsters, is their true goal to put a very different tyrant on the throne? A long-ago planted seed begins to grow as Anime Was (Not) A Mistake's Summer of Dan event continues to bloom. There are some rose beds that should not be disturbed and when Godzilla, human and plant cells are combined things are going to get heady in Godzilla vs. Biollante (1989). After the sudden death of his daughter, the grief addled Dr. Shiragami will not let the thorny limits of the natural world keep his daughter's soul from fading away. The Japanese government, yet again, assembles a military force to stop Godzilla and a newly sprouted psychic terror budding in the pastoral countryside. Even with all this going on, there are shady Saradian dealings, espers communicating with kaiju, and many roses beautiful, yet deadly. With all the excitement going on  you might need the Super X to shoot a cooling ray at you to lower your body temperature so you may rest. Dan and Jonathan can only watch from the shoreside though. Trembling in anticipation, sensing floral psychic waves, and trying their best not to breathe in too much pollen...

Where one summer ends another summer begins as two kings reawaken in full force to Anime Was (Not) A Mistake. Both have been sleeping beneath the bubbling magma as The Summer of Dan kicks off with Koji Hashimoto's The Return of Godzilla (1984). Our humble little podcast takes its first gargantuan steps into the Heisei Era with a reboot/sequel to the original Kaiju film that started it all. When a fishing vessel is attacked off the Japanese coast, a sole survivor, Hiroshi Okumura, claims that Godzilla is back to rage once more. This cold-blooded Kaiju spikes old Cold War tensions between Japan and the U.S.S.R. and the world must watch as this terror's wake of destruction starts anew. Intrepid reporter Jonathan must watch, in horror and awe, as Daniel pilots the Super X. Truly, this is humanity's last bastion of hope. It's going to be a long summer...

After Control Spires started popping up across the globe, the DigiDestined embarked on a “world tour” of sorts to set things right. To avoid an international incident, and an oddly sexy Santa, we’re gonna go ahead and skip that part entirely. Instead, we’ll dive like Submarimon straight into the endgame of Digimon Adventure 02. Yukio Oikawa, the enigmatic human who commands Arunkenimom and Mummymon, has kidnapped a group of children to enact the final stage of his evil plan. Before the DigiDestined can intervene, the demonic Daemon attacks Japan. Our heroes are forced to fight harsher battles than ever before, as good and bad Digimon defeated in the Real World don’t get do-overs. In the chaos, the shadowy power that drives Oikawa comes into focus. As their enemy’s malice threatens to destroy both worlds, will the DigiDestined find the strength to face their fears and embrace their dreams? Last time on Digimon Adventure 02, the new DigiDestined found their groove and defeated the Digimon Emperor. Their next mission is to help the Digital World recover from the emperor’s short but destructive reign. Meanwhile, former emperor Ken Ichijouji faces his demons as he starts the long road to redemption. The same mysterious individual that once manipulated Ken dispatches two villainous Digimon, Arukenimon and Mummymon, to enact the next phase of his plan. Arukenimon has the abnormal ability to transform Control Spires into Digimon, which she uses to create the nigh-unstoppable BlackWarGreymon. With the fate of the Real and Digital Worlds hanging in the balance, the DigiDestined will have to trust in their bonds and face this new evil together. Set three years after the first season, Digimon Adventure 02 begins with the Digital World under siege once again. A human calling himself the Digimon Emperor is enslaving Digimon using Dark Rings. He’s also been constructing Control Spires that prevent Digimon from evolving past rookie level. With our original heroes unable to fight at full power, a new generation of DigiDestined is chosen. We have the hot-headed Davis, the tech-savvy Yolei, and the reserved Cody paired with Veemon, Hawkmon, and Armadillomon, respectively. T.K. and Kari return to round out the 02 team, and the older DigiDestined remain ready to provide wisdom (and muscle) as needed. The DigiDestined gain access to Armor Evolution, an ancient technique that lets their Digimon bypass the Emperor’s power. After the DigiDetined foil his plans one too many times, the Digimon Emperor resolves to create a Digimon capable of untold destruction. Facing an enemy that views the Digital World as nothing more than a game, will the new DigiDestined prevail and make the Digimon Emperor see the light? Our Prodigious Summer's first half boards a train car to bid a tearful farewell (but, not a goodbye) to the partners we grew to love along the way. On this episode of Anime Was (Not) A Mistake the Numemon choose Jonathan as their new savior and Dan battles and defeats anxiety/depression while inside a cave. Haven't we all been there? With the Digidestined slowly defeating each of the Dark Masters, we see where each of our protagonist's true power lies. With some dedicated to teamwork and bringing the battle to our enemies and others less inclined to fight and more prone to gather up past friends to form an army. When the dust finally settles and we all claim our shiny new keepsake keychains only one thing lays between us and an era of peace...the digital personification of the apocalypse?!?!? Well, at least we know if we can take it on the chin and view everything as a bit of a joke we will be alright in the end. With that all said and done, it's just a quick train ride back home. There will be tears, lost cowboy hats in the wind, and plenty of fond memories. Yet, we have a feeling this ending is just the beginning of a new digital adventure!
