In which Vronsky returns to Petersburg and finds himself immersed once more in the lively and somewhat reckless social world of his old acquaintances, including the charming but troublesome Petritsky and his companion, the baroness. As laughter and gossip fill the rooms, Vronsky readily slips back into the carefree gaiety of his customary existence, preparing to reengage with the society he knows so well.
