Af: Die skreeu van handelaars en die reuk van vars brood vul die lug van die markplein in Drakenstein.
En: The cries of traders and the smell of fresh bread fill the air of the market square in Drakenstein.

Af: Langs die klank van hoefkappe op die klipstrate, stap Annelie met haar ken trots gelig deur die skares.
En: Alongside the sound of hoofbeats on the cobblestone streets, Annelie walks with her chin proudly lifted through the crowds.

Af: Sy was vasberade om die gesogte speserye vir die koning se banket te koop.
En: She was determined to buy the coveted spices for the king's banquet.

Af: Marius, haar jonger broer, dartel by haar sy.
En: Marius, her younger brother, skips by her side.
