Today USC Annenberg and the USC Charlotta Bass Journalism & Justice Lab host the annual event to honor Bass. She was the first Black woman to own and operate a newspaper in the U.S. and a journalism trailblazer advocating for racial and social justice. This year's theme focused on how lawyers and families have historically used the media to rally public support for cases that shape our justice system.
