This week on Wellbeing, we talk with Annie, the mother with a daughter going through PTSD. When Annie's daughter was twelve she went through childhood trauma which even today fifteen years later affects her in the form of PTSD. Annie has gone on this journey with her daughter in trying to find the best help but has struggled to find adequate mental health support for her daughter in Australia. Annie is now an advocate for mental health and continues to challenge the government, health authorities and regulatory bodies to embrace innovative ways of approaching mental health support. Today Annie is a part of Mind Medicine Australia's lived experience board.

In this episode Annie discusses her daughter's journey with PTSD, how it affects her as a mother seeing her daughter struggle with the condition, how she has tried to help her daughter with PTSD, how it has affected the family, and where she and her daughter are at now with the condition.  

"There is a massive grief that every parent feels, grieving at what you've lost, at what should have been, at what your child deserves, at what they may never have, and grieving the fact that maybe she may never finish school, maybe this life of this bright little young button I knew as a child has been so disrupted that maybe it won't ever come back." - Annie on this episode of Wellbeing
