The year is 2208 and the world is in need of a savior
Two centuries have passed since global economies collapsed with little hope of resurrection. Jake Henderson wanders the former State of Texas foraging for food, and witnesses the murder of a young woman. The 10-year-old girl traveling with her is traumatized and left speechless, orphaned by the violent act. From that day, she begins changing Jake's life in ways he could never have imagined. Annabelle, as he chooses to call her, is descended from failed genetically manufactured prototypes of the early 21st century. The delicate-appearing child is anything but, and is destined to become the salvation of a world out of control.

Fascinating read!
As an avid reader of dystopian novels I really enjoyed the intriguing spin in this story. Beautifully written and the characters are very well defined. Interesting to think of how the world would look if we recessed. A scary thought but I couldn't put it down!
Wonderful Reading
Just finished reading this book. It was absolutely wonderful! It's exciting, funny, sad, romantic. It's reality and fantasy. It is spellbinding, captivating. The characters are so wonderful. You're just drawn into the book, becoming a part of it. It is definately worth reading. A wonderful book.
Entertaining and Thought Provoking
What if?
These two words launched many a novel into uncharted waters, drawing the reader in and creating living, breathing characters along the way in every story, if told correctly. This is exactly what Daniel Lance Wright's book, "Annie's World: Jake's Legacy" did for me. From the first paragraph, I was hooked on this story of an America that is barely recognizable two hundred years from now. Society has broken down and so has the basic infrastructure that we have come to depend on. Likewise, so has mankind's ability to depend on law and order. This is how we first come to meet Jake Henderson.
However, I don't mean to paint the picture of another one of those dreary, angst-ridden stories that have been all the rage lately. It does have its dark points, but is a very enjoyable read. Along the way, we meet a wide range of characters, including Annie, the girl who this story is actually about. She brings a quality of hope to the world around her and has abilities that might come into focus in future tales.
Even if Jake is not always front and center, he is the conduit to bridge the reader and the characters in the story via oral history and acts as a father figure to young Annie. Particularly amusing to me was Dame Fortune, "a large woman, skin the color of night with an explosion of solid white hair." She serves as the bridge between the girl Annie is and the woman she is to become. I highly recommend âAnnieâs World Jakeâs Legacyâ as entertaining and thought provoking as well. I think you'll like it as much as I did.

Very Nice!
I have read other reviews and I understand each of the writers perspective and respect them. But before I read that the books beginning was to slow I had thought that the beginning of the book was just fine. Jake the dialog inside Jake's head with himself I thought established the tone of the book and set up the meeting with Annie, and Jake's response to her wonderful.
