The children of Israel were in big trouble. The ten northern tribes were gone and the two southern tribes were carried off to Babylon. After 70 years of captivity a small remnant of the nation of Israel was allowed to return to the land. The task of rebuilding was impossible. The discouragement was crippling. However, God had something to say about it: Not my might, nor by power, but by my Spirit, says the LORD Almighty. What are you, O mighty mountain? Before Zerubbabel you will become level ground. Then he will bring out the capstone to shouts of God bless it! God Bless it! (Zechariah 4:6-7).
God has promised to give us the anointing of the Holy Spirit. We will have power to serve him. We will have power to rebuild what was lost to sin. We, too, will shout words of victory like we never dreamed possible.
