Many in the church today are trying to reinterpret God’s Word to accept gay “marriage.” For example, some claim that archaeology shows the New Testament only condemns abusive gay relationships, not loving ones.
But this means that for 2,000 years Christians have misunderstood what the Bible says about marriage and sexuality. It means Scripture isn’t clear, and we can only understand it now that we have archaeology. This subjects God’s Word to a higher authority—archaeology and man’s ideas. God’s Word’s is no longer the authority—sinful human beings are!
Let’s take God at his Word. He’s the ultimate authority.
