If ants were the size of humans, theyâd be superheroes. They can carry fifty times their weight, never stop building, and somehow move like they all share one mind. They donât clock in. They donât post about the grind. They just work work work work work.
Now Proverbs 6:6 says:
âGo to the ant, you sluggard; consider its ways and be wise.â
And you gotta love the way it says it! Itâs straight-up old man energyâ short, stinging, and surgical. Who uses sluggard?? Just try that on your friends, âYou Sluggard!â
The First Scripture Ever Was Nature
Before Scripture was written on paper, and before it was etched into stone, there was Scripture writtenâŠin creation. The first holy text was the book of nature â the earth preaching back the wisdom of its Creator. đ Psalms 19:1 says, âThe heavens declare the glory of God; the skies proclaim the work of his hands!â The sun teaches consistency. The trees teach patience. The ant? The ant teaches perpetual purpose.
So the Old Man says: âGo to the ant.â And sure we need to do just that, but to me, this is saying, âGo outside, watch how the world works, and learn something.â
Even ancient wisdom traditions like the Tao began with this same observation â seeing divine order revealed in natural rhythm.
Consider Its Ways đ
Ants are small but strategic. They donât wait for conditions to be perfect â they move. They work collectively, store up, plan ahead, and never waste energy on envy.
Look how the Proverb says to, âConsider it.â Study it. Reflect on it. Learn wisdom through observation. đ
Because observation is the first step of revelation.
Be Wise
Wisdom isnât just what you know. Itâs what you notice and then practice.
You can read a thousand verses, but if you wonât stop long enough to watch the ants at your feet, youâll miss one of Godâs oldest and most powerful sermons.
Can You Become An Ant-Man?
So tomorrow when youâre tempted to complain, scroll, or wait for perfect timing, remember the ant â small, unseen, unstoppable.
It doesnât talk about goals. It just gets after it. And thatâs what makes it wise.
Remember
Everybody thought that the Ant Canât
But the ant did! And it was so good that heâs giving out lessons!
Prayer
Lord, teach us through what Youâve already written in nature.
Todayâs Challenge
Go hunting for some ants! And I mean metaphoricallyâŠget outside observe Birds, bees, ants, clouds â whatever. And ask, âWhat are You teaching me right now?â Then write down one line of wisdom you observe. Because sometimes the most honest prayerâŠis the sound of your silence.
