Anthropology of Okra

Listen Later

Doing a deep dive into our gardens as we research a key ingredient here in the Deep South. Okra is found throughout the south and derives from controversial history, yet through slave trade, spice trade, Native American growing and cooking techniques, and the growing conditions being perfect in Southern States it has become a must have in our gardens.  Let's have a great convo on okra and why I think YOU should be growing okra in your garden this year.

Full disclaimer, I am not the full food historian. I am an Executive Chef and lover of all things food, meaning yes I am a professional at cooking, but I miss a few things in the history of the plant. If you want to add to the conversation please feel free to email at [email protected]
