12 months, 9 months, 6 months, 3 months, or maybe 10 days? And then what?

Depends on where you work and how lucky you are with your maternity pay mum. Unfortunately, I had to return to work when my first baby was 10 days old, yes, I know I don't know how I did manage that. However, it doesn't matter how old your baby is the anxiety separation always will take place.

When the baby is born, we as mums don't want to even think about returning to work and what emotions will associate with that process. I can tell you it crashed me however at the start I thought that I was ok. I was so wrong.
