In one of a few bonus episodes of the second season of the podcast, I release recordings of me reading/performing spoken word poetry pieces I performed back in the days of open mic poetry readings at Mt. Cloud Bookshop in Baguio City. These poems are part of my feminist formation and I hope you find joy in listening to them.
This piece, Aorta Material, is immensely inspired by a Katrina Stuart Santiago essay of the same title. You can read it in her book "Of Love and Other Lemons."
I wrote this when I was in my mid-20s and has been revised several times, retrofitted to whatever I was going through with my love life. Now, at 30, I guess I can say that the last portion of the poem finally rings true.
