In this episode of the AP Now podcast, Matt Skudera joins host Mary Schaeffer to discuss collusion, the difficulty of uncovering it and how organizations can both prevent it from happening and detect it once it has. Skudera, who recently joined the Credit Research Foundation after a 25-year career in shared services in retail, is now the CRF’s VP in charge of Research and Education. He came on the podcast to discuss the ugly issue of collusion between a supplier and a customer for the purposes of defrauding one or both of the organizations.
Both he and the host of the podcast had both personally encountered instances of vendor fraud and they shared their experiences. They then proceeded to discuss how organizations could detect it; something all experts agree is not easy. Skudera warned that social media is providing some interesting insights when investigating vendors and also strongly recommends anonymous tip lines. He says that marrying the tip line with facts and data provides strong protection for any organization looking to uncover frauds of any sort.
