Episode 024: Tiana Laurence on Entrepreneurship and Blockchain
Mining bitcoin in her living room was one of Tiana Laurence’s first ventures into blockchain. Of course, this meant that fuses were often blown, if everything wasn’t done exactly right. But we’re getting ahead of the story she shared with Mary Schaeffer in Episode 24 of the AP Now podcast.
The podcast starts with Laurence sharing how she got started as a teenager entrepreneur. Of course, then she didn’t know what the word meant nor had she ever heard of blockchain. Fast forward to her post-college years when she had a marketing firm. A friend asked her to take on a “mining project.” Of course, she thought he meant heavy equipment mining, not bitcoin mining. She quickly learned the difference and her interest in blockchain grew.
During the podcast, she shares a number of business applications, tells how she ended up writing a book about blockchain (Blockchain for Dummies) and provides insights to the future of blockchain. The podcast closes with her offering the accounting community some insights on where they will fit into a blockchain-enabled world.
