In this episode Mary Schaeffer, AP Now founder and podcast host, shares tips received from readers on how they are handling the coronavirus crisis in accounts payable. She also includes some statistics from recent webinar attendees, mostly to add a little levity to a deadly serious topic. Three-quarters of attendees admitted they were spending too much time checking for updates on the coronavirus, stock market performance and/or silly videos. Unfortunately, the host was in that group and not the 25% who said they were working as usual.
The main portion of this podcast was devoted to the seven tips for accounts payable groups who were working remotely. Some would apply to anyone who suddenly finds themselves having to work remotely and other specifically honed in on the accounts payable function, specifically, the processing of invoices and the making of payments.
Working remotely creates a problem for the paper side of the accounts payable function. While many have made great strides in eliminating both paper invoices (automation and emailed invoices) and paper checks (ACH and cards), there is still an issue. Most, if not all, still have some or quite of bit of paper in their operation. She discusses ways to address this.
She closes with some information about free programs AP Now is creating during the coronacrisis for everyone. She explains what they are and how to register for them. And she promises, not only will they be educational, where possible, a little bit of fun will be injected into them.
